The poet says his mother called him a sinner and that he would be punished for his blasphemous critique. Kabir leaves his home after a fight with his mother but returns on learning of her ailing age.
A young man now, Kabir’s mother requests him to get married which he agrees to. The marriage is arranged with a local girl. To Kabir’s surprise, his wife confesses her love with the son of a ‘banya’ (grocer). However, instead of lashing out at her, Kabir offers to reunite his wife with her lover. But she soon realizes that the poet loved and cared for her and decides to stay with her husband.
